About Kevin Glew

Jackie Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Sparky Anderson and Tommy Lasorda are all in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. But did you know that they all spent crucial seasons in their pro careers toiling north of the 49th parallel? These are just a few of diamond legends that can be linked to Canada. This blog is dedicated to telling the stories of Cooperstowners in Canada, as well as the tales of Canucks that, though not Cooperstowners, overcame astronomical odds to toil in the big leagues.

The posts will be written by Kevin Glew, an award-winning sportswriter based in London, Ontario. His articles have been featured in dozens of publications, including Baseball Digest, Baseball America, MLB.com, The Hockey News, Sports Market Report and Sports Collectors Monthly. A well-known and respected baseball scribe, he has researched and written numerous features on Canadian-born major leaguers and has been involved with the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum for over 14 years. For the past three years, he has served as an executive with the London chapter of the Professional Writers Association of Canada (PWAC), including a successful, 20-month stint as the organization’s president.

Kevin is available for paid writing opportunities.

Kevin, great to be introduced to you by way of Charles. I’m not too “bright” about baseball details, but it is one of my favorite sports. You might find it interesting that my first “real” game was in Montreal, to see the Expos. I don’t remember who they played, or who won. I do remember that, as a young girl, I wore a sweatshirt with two pockets. Pre-game, my cousin and I scored two baseballs from the Expos during practice. I kept them in my sweatshirt pockets, thinking that would be the safest place. Until, during the game, a play sent us springing to our feet and both baseballs fell out of the pockets. I remember the sadness and sound of them bouncing away from us and into the hands of incredulous fans. It took many years for my cousin to talk to me again.
